TWO ORDINATIONS IN COBH CATHEDRAL

Sunday, December 29th., Feast of the Holy Family, was  a joyous occasion in our Diocese as two new priests were ordained for the Diocese of Cloyne.

Patrick Relihan of the parish of Cobh and Anthony Sheehan of Banteer were ordained together by Bishop John Magee. Families, friends, neighbours joined the people of Cobh for the magnificent ceremony in St. Colman's Cathedral. Forty priests joined them for the occasion.

A fascinating footnote: it was only recently realised that the two new priests are third cousins, both descended from  Dan Hallihan and Ellen Ledden of Liscarroll.

Fr. Pat Relihan will return to Rome to begin post-graduate studies in Sacred Scripture.  Fr. Anthony Sheehan has been appointed  to the parish of Charleville where he has been assisting as a Deacon for a number of months.

The two candidates are presented for Ordination and pray for God's help in their mission

Bishop Magee ordains the candidates by laying on of hands and assisting priests also impose hands on the newly ordained.

The newly ordained priests join Bishop Magee to concelebrate with him their First Mass.
