On Sunday, 30th April, over 60 young people from secondary schools across the Diocese gathered at the Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel to prepare for their work as Youth Helpers on this year’s Pilgrimage to Lourdes from 1st – 6th June.
The group was welcomed by the President of the Lourdes Hospitality, Tom Conway, and heard presentations on what they can expect in Lourdes from Youth Co-ordinator, Gerardine O’Flynn, Youth Chaplain, Fr Damien Lynch, and Chief Brancardier, Bill Fouhy. They also had the opportunity to meet the Youth Leaders who will guide them in their work on the Pilgrimage.
The Youth Helpers are an indispensable part of the Pilgrimage as, among many other things, they assist with the care of Cloyne’s Assisted Pilgrims who reside in the Accueil Notre Dame (Hospital) during their stay.
